As we prepare to release version 3.0 of Testuff, we’re filled with gratitude and pride reflecting on the remarkable journey we’ve taken together. Since our very first version in 2007, we’ve delivered over 200 consecutive monthly releases – each one adding features, refining performance, and bringing you closer to better, faster, more insightful testing.

The Road So Far

From V 0.1 to V 3.0

Back in 2007, the software testing world was dominated by two giants: Mercury, with its flagship product Test Director, and Rational, with its test suite. Today, these tools are owned by HP and IBM. At the time, they required local installation of expensive servers, and their licensing models involved annual maintenance fees costing several thousands of dollars. As a result, many companies relied on Excel for testing.

Testuff set out to change this paradigm by offering a SaaS-only model—one that allowed us to significantly reduce licensing costs and eliminate installation and server expenses. While this may seem obvious today, back then, a large portion of our advertising budget was dedicated to convincing the market that SaaS was safe.

Testuff’s strategic direction was built on five core design principles:

  • Reduce costs by offering a SaaS-only solution instead of the traditional client-server model with local installations.
  • Develop a hybrid desktop client that works with the cloud-based API due to limitations of early web technologies.
  • Focus solely on test management and integrate with third-party software for other functions.
  • Use a simple licensing model: one license that includes all features, without usage limitations.
  • Be as “open” as possible, allowing data export and integration with local tools, especially defect management systems.

After many years, we can now evaluate whether each of these principles proved beneficial for the business. We may explore that further in a future post.

Testuff began with a bold vision: to offer a powerful, flexible test management solution that meets the real needs of testers. Over the years, we’ve relentlessly pursued that vision, releasing meaningful updates month after month.

Some of the Key Milestones Include:

Advanced Integration Ecosystem

With support for over 35 bug trackers, including Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Monday.com, and more,
our two-way integrations allow seamless syncing of test cases, defects, and requirements.

A Game-Changer: The Testuff-Jira App

This unique app brings the full power of Testuff directly into Jira. It provides custom dashboards,
rich panels inside issues, and test coverage details without ever leaving Jira. From test execution
grouped by labs to defect associations, the app keeps testers, developers, and project managers aligned.

Smart Dashboards and Reporting

Customizable dashboards, lab and requirement-level analytics, productivity insights, and predictive
timelines empower better decisions through data.

Automation and API Expansions

Support for tools like Playwright, Cypress, Mocha, and Selenium allows for seamless automation.
Our API plays a vital role in many CI/CD workflows today.

Lab Management Redefined

Features like “Distribute Evenly,” hierarchical lab structures, and cycle prediction tools improve
execution management.

Test Editor Excellence

Enhancements like shared steps, versioning, preconditions, and test parameters help testers focus
on what matters most: product quality.

Always Listening, Always Improving

From small UX tweaks to major infrastructure upgrades—every improvement is guided by user feedback.
Testuff is built for and with testers.

What’s Next

Version 3.0 is more than just a number. It’s a symbol of maturity, reliability, and vision. Expect deeper Jira integrations, expanded automation, smarter dashboards, and more surprises.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to the next generation of Testuff – and the testers who make it possible.

Happy Testing!
