Software testing is a serious profession that becomes more demanding and more important every day. But many within the field don't regard their own contributions with the respect they deserve. They view themselves as support staff and fact-checkers who needn’t bother investing in the requisite resources for continued growth. Ironically, many of these same individuals [...]
We are frequently asked about the best methodology to use with Testuff test management suite, or if is it good to use this or that methodology. Without getting too much into what a methodology is (compared with a process, a workflow, technique, class, type, etc.) we always answer that Testuff is flexible enough to enable [...]
The other day, I heard a story about a biology student who was preparing for an in-class experiment. She was so engrossed in the steps that she inadvertently turned a few of the flasks upside down. Basic common sense would have saved this student a lot of time. But because she was so focused on [...]
If you manage a software testing company (or team) for long enough, you’ll eventually run into one or both of the following: When business is booming, should your next hire be an experienced tester or a relative newcomer? When business is hurting, should your next layoff be the veteran tester or the novice? These 2 [...]
For much of its 70-year history, the software development world has taken many of its cues from traditional manufacturing. In the very early days, for example, software testers and developers adopted serial workflows in which teams set sequential milestones and forwarded completed tasks down the chain – not unlike an assembly line factory. If imitation truly were the sincerest form of flattery, Testuff would be blushing with embarrassment. Every month, we’re honored with rival updates and new features that closely mirror improvements we’ve made to our own software testing suite. And this flattery is not limited to our flagship QA testing tool. Sometimes we see our Web content [...]
In the world of software-as-a-service (SaaS) testing, we’re under constant pressure to keep innovating. To be fair, legacy software testing companies must also evolve to remain competitive. But there’s an important distinction between software testing providers who offer on-site solutions versus those who offer cloud-based ones. The latter must continuously win over their customers’ loyalty. [...]
In many industries, the technical support department is the de facto face of the company. Customers end up spending more time with call center representatives than anyone else. But over the past few years of developing software testing products for the programming community, this hasn’t been my experience at all. At Testuff, the overwhelming majority [...]
In the previous post, we explored switching costs – those inevitable expenses you must factor in when moving from one product or service to another. We discussed the switching costs of moving from your current test case management system to Testuff – and determined that the time, money and effort were minimal. But they’re not [...]
